Kolo, Ogbia, Bayelsa - De Lead Way Club of Kolo Town in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has reaffirmed its commitment to community development by donating writing materials to students in both the Community Secondary School Kolo and all the primary schools within the Kolo federated communities.
The outreach, which took place recently, was aimed at promoting education and encouraging students to remain focused on their academic pursuits.
Led by Prophet Prosper Ederi, leader of the club, and its Chairman, Fineface Solomon, members of the group were accompanied by the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman of Kolo 1, Hon. Ederi Godknows, as well as the Youth President of Kolo 2, Comrade Okosigha Bamekpar. The delegation distributed books, pens, and other writing materials to the pupils and students while urging them to prioritize education as a foundation for their future.
Speaking during the exercise, Prophet Prosper Ederi said the initiative was part of the club’s vision of raising a generation of responsible leaders through education. “Education remains the greatest legacy we can give to our children. By equipping them with basic learning materials, we are telling them that their dreams are valid and achievable. To God be the glory, we're all former students of this school and we find it as a thing of joy to visit the school that built us academically,” he stated.
Also, the Chairman of the club, Fineface Solomon, urged the students to remain diligent, stressing that the future of Kolo Town and Nigeria at large depends on their academic success. “We want every child here to know that with focus and determination, there is no limit to what they can achieve,” he said.
On his part, the CDC Chairman of Kolo 1, Hon. Ederi Godknows, commended the club for what he described as a “remarkable contribution to community growth,” adding that such initiatives complement government’s efforts in the education sector.
Similarly, the Youth President of Kolo 2, Comrade Okosigha Bamekpar, commended De Lead Way Club for leading by example. “This is the kind of leadership our community needs, one that gives back selflessly. We urge others to emulate this gesture,” he remarked.
Responding on behalf of the school, the Principal of Community Secondary School Kolo, Mr. Saturday Obi, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the club, noting that the gesture came at the right time. “This effort has boosted the morale of both students and teachers. Many parents struggle to provide these materials, and this intervention will go a long way in encouraging learning,” he said.
Beyond education, De Lead Way Club has over the years extended its philanthropic efforts to other areas of community life. The group is reputed for reaching out to elderly residents of Kolo Town by donating food items and cash gifts on several occasions, thereby improving their welfare.
Community members say the latest gesture once again restates the club’s dedication to building a better and brighter future for the people of Kolo Town through grassroots-driven initiatives.
