NDLEA Calls for Collective Action to Combat Drug Abuse

The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has called for collective action to combat drug abuse, cultism, and banditry among Nigerian youths.


Marwa who made the call while delivering the keynote address at a seminar organized by the Ijebu Ode Council of Olorituns, Saturday in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state emphasized the need for stakeholders, including families, religious and community leaders, to work together to curb these social vices.


He noted that cultism, initially confined to tertiary institutions, has spread to secondary schools and neighborhoods, often manipulated by political or criminal interests.


The NDLEA boss highlighted the agency's efforts in fighting drug trafficking and abuse, including significant seizures and arrests.


He also emphasized the importance of youth development, education, and entrepreneurship in preventing these issues.


Marwa urged communities to partner with the NDLEA to report suspicious activities and support advocacy drives.


The seminar, themed "Dangers of Drug Abuse, Cultism, and Banditry among Youths," was organized by the Ijebu Ode Council of Olorituns.
