FIVE YEARS ON: TURNAH LEADS FAMILY IN THANKSGIVING SERVICE TO HONOUR MEMORY OF LATE MOTHER

Edeoha, Rivers State – In commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the passing of his beloved mother, Deaconess Elizabeth Titi Charles, the Acting Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, PDP in Bayelsa State, Hon. Barr. George Turnah, MON, on Saturday 19th July, 2025, led his family and well-wishers to a solemn thanksgiving service held at the Christian Church of God Mission in Edeoha Town, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The service, filled with gratitude, worship, and reflection, was in honour of the late Deaconess, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 67.

Described as a woman of deep faith and unwavering commitment to God, Deaconess Elizabeth Titi Charles was celebrated not only for her role as a mother but for her lifelong dedication to the service of God and humanity.

In his remarks, Hon. George Turnah, a distinguished legal practitioner and political figure, said the thanksgiving was in continuation of a legacy laid by his late mother, who consistently prioritized her relationship with God and instilled the same spiritual values in her children.

“Despite the challenges and oppositions of life, we have continued to see the faithfulness of God,” Turnah stated. “This thanksgiving is both a tribute to a life well lived and an expression of our enduring trust in the God who preserved us.”

Turnah, who also doubles as the Zonal Secretary of the PDP in the South South Zone, reaffirmed his commitment to walk faithfully with God, declaring that his mother’s spiritual legacy remains a guiding light for him and his family.

Delivering the sermon titled “Divine Constancy,” the officiating minister, Pastor Roland, encouraged Evangelist Turnah and his family to remain unwavering in their pursuit of God’s purpose.

He emphasized that God’s will is for all to attain eternal life, noting that everyone is assigned a divine purpose, which may not always be defined by earthly status or high office but by obedience and faithfulness in whatever position one occupies

Pastor Roland lauded Turnah's steadfastness and declared that “the same God who has fought your battles in the past will never allow the evil of this world to overshadow you.”

A moving highlight of the service was the gesture by the women of the church, who presented food items and offered warm tributes to Hon. Turnah.

They expressed deep appreciation for his years of consistent love, care, and generosity toward them, the church and the community.

Another captivating moment during the service was when George Turnah, MON, led the congregation in a powerful session of praise and worship, skillfully ministering through the rhythmic sound of the traditional bell; evoking a deep sense of reverence and spiritual connection among worshippers.

Special prayers were also offered for Turnah and his family, asking for divine protection, continued blessings, and the grace to stand firm in the faith.

Following the church service, Turnah, in the company of family members and church leaders, visited the mausoleum of his late mother for a brief moment of reflection and a wreath-laying ceremony in her honour.

Deaconess Elizabeth Titi Charles is remembered as a virtuous woman whose godly life left a deep imprint on all who knew her.

Her legacy continues to live on through her children and the lives she impacted during her time on earth.
