TECH EXPO 2025: NDDC Urges Youths To Embrace Tech World For Sustainable Wealth, Job Creation
Port Harcourt - The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has called on youths in the Niger Delta region to embrace technology and digital innovation as pathways to a sustainable and prosperous future.
Dr. Ogbuku made the call during the Port Harcourt Tech Expo 2025, a two-day technology and innovation showcase organized and sponsored by the NDDC. Themed “Emergence,” the event brought together aspiring tech entrepreneurs, innovators, and stakeholders from across the nine oil-producing states of the Niger Delta region.
In his keynote address, the NDDC boss emphasized that the Commission’s promotion of the tech expo is in line with its broader strategic policy to stimulate job creation, economic diversification, and youth empowerment through digital transformation.
“The NDDC is intentional about building a sustainable and inclusive future for the Niger Delta,” Dr. Ogbuku said. “We believe that the tech industry offers tremendous opportunities for wealth creation, employment, and innovation. We are investing in the future by empowering our youths with the tools, knowledge, and exposure they need to thrive in the 21st century economy.”
The expo, which featured workshops, tech demonstrations, networking sessions, and exhibitions, served as a platform to groom young talents in areas such as software development, digital marketing, robotics, artificial intelligence, fintech, and green technology.
Other speakers and resource persons at the event lauded the NDDC for taking bold steps toward repositioning the region’s economy through innovation.
They encouraged participants to leverage the knowledge shared and build scalable solutions that can address both local and global challenges.
Several participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the event not only ignited their creativity but also gave them practical insights and connections to explore their potentials.
“This expo has opened my eyes to what is possible in the tech space,” said Emmanuel Boma, a participant from Delta State. “It’s a life-changing experience that motivates me to start building.”
A symbolic highlight of the event was the cutting of a commemorative cake to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the NDDC, an agency created to fast-track development in the Niger Delta.
The Port Harcourt Tech Expo 2025 has now set the stage for a renewed focus on digital inclusion and innovation-driven development in the region.
With continued investment and mentorship, many believe the Niger Delta can become a hub for tech-driven entrepreneurship in Nigeria and beyond.
