The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory, Reverend Joseph Hayab, has commended Nigerian security agencies for their ongoing efforts in tackling the rising tide of banditry, insurgency, and other criminal activities across the country.

Reverend Hayab gave the commendation during a strategic security and development meeting held with the Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) in Kaduna.

The meeting focused on charting practical solutions to the worsening security and socio-economic challenges confronting Northern Nigeria and the nation at large.

“We must appreciate our security operatives who, despite challenges, continue to put their lives on the line for the peace and unity of our country. Their sacrifices are worthy of recognition,” Hayab said.

The dialogue also featured a critical appeal from the Kaduna State Coordinator of NCYP, Pastor Yusuf Galama, who called on the Federal Government to expedite the implementation of the National Forest Guard initiative, recently approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This initiative, if properly deployed, will not only enhance national security, especially in rural and forested areas, but also engage thousands of restive youths in productive service to the nation,” Pastor Galama noted.

Reverend Hayab emphasized that security is a shared responsibility and urged Nigerians to continue supporting government-led efforts to safeguard lives and property, adding that sustainable development is only possible in a peaceful and stable environment.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by the Northern Christian Youth Professionals to work with stakeholders across faiths and regions to foster peace, national unity, and youth engagement in community development.
