Turnah Hails Appointment of Aganaba, Eji into South-South Development Commission

Commends President Tinubu for Recognizing Competent Hands from Bayelsa, Rivers


Yenagoa, May 10, 2025 – The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, has applauded the recent appointment of Engr. Aganaba Preye Steven from Bayelsa State and Hon. Marcus Nie Eji from Rivers State into key leadership positions in the newly established South-South Development Commission (SSDC).


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had appointed Engr. Aganaba as Executive Director, Social and Human Capital Development, and Hon. Eji as Executive Director, Projects, roles seen as pivotal to the success of the Commission’s regional development agenda.


In a statement issued through his Media Assistant, Kelvin Loveday-Egbo, Barr. Turnah described the appointments as “timely and strategic,” noting that both individuals possess the competence, leadership acumen, and experience needed to drive meaningful change in the South-South region.


He commended President Tinubu for his “visionary leadership and inclusive approach,” especially for recognizing capable sons of Bayelsa and Rivers States to help steer the SSDC’s developmental mandate.


“These appointments are well-deserved and reflective of the President’s commitment to regional inclusivity and national development. Engr. Aganaba and Hon. Eji have proven their mettle in public service, and I am confident in their ability to deliver tangible results,” Turnah said.


He emphasized that the creation of the SSDC marks a new chapter for the South-South zone in addressing critical challenges such as environmental degradation, infrastructural deficits, and youth unemployment.


“With tested hands like Aganaba and Eji in leadership, the Commission is well-positioned to deliver transformative results that will impact lives and communities across the region,” he added.


The PDP caretaker chairman called on political leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and the general public in Bayelsa and Rivers States to offer their full support and cooperation to the new appointees, urging them to see their new roles as a rare opportunity to build lasting legacies.


Turnah further affirmed the readiness of the PDP in Bayelsa State to collaborate with the SSDC in fostering development and promoting regional growth.


“As Chairman of the PDP in Bayelsa and a firm believer in regional advancement, I extend my warmest congratulations to Engr. Aganaba and Hon. Eji. Their success will be our collective success,” he concluded.
