Six Months in Office: Okpebholo Prioritizes High-Quality Infrastructure Across Edo State
By Ohioze Inarumen, Benin
As he marks six months in office, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering durable, high-quality infrastructure across the state, taking a cue from the standards set in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Speaking during an inspection tour of ongoing road projects across Esanland, the governor emphasized that his government is focused on practical, people-centered governance through meaningful infrastructural development.
Governor Okpebholo, who assumed office on November 12, 2024, has been working to fulfill his campaign promises of improving the state’s infrastructure.
One of the most notable initiatives under his leadership is the construction of the Ramat Park flyover in Benin City—the first of its kind in the metropolis.
The project is widely seen as a symbol of the administration’s drive for transformative development.
During Monday’s tour, the governor inspected several key projects across Esanland, including the Efandion–Uromi, Atani–Uromi, Uromi–Ubiaja, and Federal Technical College roads.
Others include the Utako–Uromi, Onewa–Uromi roads, the Udomi underground drainage system, and the newly renovated Udomi Primary School.
At each stop, Governor Okpebholo received a warm welcome from large crowds of residents who expressed appreciation and support for his ongoing development efforts.
He, in turn, assured them that his administration would not relent in its mission to improve the lives of Edo people.
After concluding his inspection in Esanland, the governor returned to Benin City to assess the progress of the Ramat Park flyover, which continues to advance steadily toward completion.
As he clocks his first half-year in office, observers say Governor Okpebholo’s emphasis on infrastructure may be setting the tone for a legacy of visible, people-oriented governance in Edo State.
