PDP Bayelsa State Announces New Appointment; Approves Reconstitution of New Media Team
Yenagoa, Nigeria — The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State Chapter, has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Mr. Toruyokotie Godspower Esq. as the Director General of the PDP Bayelsa State New Media Team, effective June 1, 2025.
The appointment, approved by the Acting State Chairman of the PDP, Barr. George Turnah, MON, marks a strategic step towards repositioning the party’s digital communication and public engagement efforts.
Mr. Godspower, an experienced legal practitioner with over a decade of post-call practice, hails from Sabagreia in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Beyond his legal credentials, he is a published author and a staunch party loyalist, well-versed in the evolving landscape of new media.
A statement signed by Derri Alasuote Wright, Acting State Publicity Secretary, PDP Bayelsa State, notes that “his extensive background in new media practices, combined with his exceptional communication skills, positions him as an invaluable asset to the party.”
The Acting Chairman expressed confidence that the new Director General will introduce innovative strategies to deepen the PDP’s presence and interaction across digital platforms, enhance the party’s messaging, and broaden its appeal to the electorate.
In addition to the appointment, Barr. Turnah has also approved the reconstitution of the Bayelsa State PDP New Media Team.
The revamped team will draw membership from all eight Local Government Areas in the state, as well as representatives from the non-indigene community—a move described as inclusive and reflective of the party’s diversity.
“It is the Chairman’s belief that the reconstitution of the State PDP New Media Team will not only be beneficial to the party but will also serve as a vital avenue for public engagement, critical for the effective governance and administration of the PDP in the State,” the party noted.
The party extended its congratulations to Mr. Godspower on what it described as a well-deserved appointment, expressing optimism that his leadership will strengthen the PDP’s visibility and communication machinery across the state.
