OGBIA YOUTHS HONOUR GEORGE TURNAH WITH DOUBLE AWARDS FOR EXAMPLARY LEADERSHIP

The Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council (OBYC) has presented a distinguished leadership award to the Zonal Secretary of the People's Democratic Party and Acting Chairman of the PDP in Bayelsa State, Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, in recognition of his unwavering commitment to the progress and unity of Ogbia Kingdom and the empowerment of its youths.

The honour was conferred on Turnah during a ceremony in Yenagoa, where the President of OBYC, Comrade Samuel Mipuraziba, described Turnah as a tireless advocate for youth development and a true son of the soil whose contributions as National Youth Leader of the Ogbia Brotherhood continue to yield positive impacts.

Mipuraziba explained that the award had long been due but was delayed by unforeseen challenges. “George Turnah’s love for Ogbia and his consistent support for youth-oriented initiatives made this recognition not just necessary but well-deserved,” he stated.

In a separate presentation, members of the NEW Associates in Ogbia Local Government Area also honoured Barr. Turnah with a commemorative portrait, congratulating him on his emergence as the Zonal Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-South zone and his recent appointment as the Caretaker Chairman of the Bayelsa State Working Committee of the PDP.

Leading the delegation, Comrade Johnny Jonathan hailed Turnah’s exceptional leadership acumen, political courage, and unwavering pursuit of the collective good of Ogbia Kingdom and Bayelsa State.

“Barrister Turnah is a beacon of hope for our generation. His leadership style continues to inspire confidence, unity, and progress among our people,” Jonathan remarked.

In his response, Barr. George Turnah expressed profound gratitude for the dual honours, noting that while it is often said that a prophet is not honoured in his own land, this recognition by his kinsmen is a notable exception.

“I am humbled by these gestures. They mean a great deal to me and serve as a reminder that service to the people is never in vain. These awards will spur me to do even more for the good of Ogbia, Bayelsa, and the South-South region,” he said.

Turnah called on the youth to remain focused, united, and supportive of leadership that prioritizes the wellbeing and development of the people. He reaffirmed his commitment to continue championing initiatives that promote political inclusion, economic empowerment, and sustainable progress.
