OGBIA CHAPTER OF NEW ASSOCIATES CONGRATULATES BARR. GEORGE TURNAH, MON, ON SUCCESSFUL INAUGURATION OF BAYELSA STATE STRUCTURE
...DECLARES TOTAL SUPPORT FOR TINUBU'S EIGHT-YEAR PRESIDENCY
The Ogbia Local Government Area chapter of the NEW Associates heartily congratulates all members of the group across Bayelsa State, particularly its leader in the state, Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, for the successful inauguration of the Bayelsa State structure of the NEW Associates and the hosting of a historic Mega Solidarity Rally in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON.
Barr. Turnah, who also serves as the Zonal Secretary of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) South-South Zone and Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the PDP in Bayelsa State, has once again demonstrated exceptional leadership, courage, and vision for the Ijaw people and the larger Bayelsa populace.
In a statement jointly signed by Barr. Awudumapu Agorodi, Coordinator of the NEW Associates in Ogbia LGA, and Comr. Johnny Jonathan, Deputy Coordinator, the chapter commended Barr. Turnah's resilient spirit and unwavering commitment to ensuring that Bayelsans are no longer marginalized but properly integrated into Nigeria’s mainstream political leadership.
The Ogbia chapter particularly praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister Nyesom Wike for facilitating the appointment of illustrious Ijaw sons and daughters into prestigious positions of authority under the present federal administration, a gesture which clearly indicates their genuine commitment to the development of the Niger Delta.
The statement noted that the decision to align with the political philosophy and ideology of Dr. Nyesom Wike, particularly in ensuring the South enjoys an uninterrupted eight-year presidency following the North’s completed eight years, is a patriotic and strategic move.
"Anyone who opposes the call for a full eight-year presidency for the South clearly does not have the best interests of the Ijaw nation at heart," the statement read.
The Ogbia chapter further applauded the doggedness of Bayelsans, especially the vibrant youth population, for standing firmly with Barr. Turnah during the build-up to and throughout the inauguration ceremony, despite attempts by enemies of progress to disrupt the event.
They called on Bayelsans to disregard the misguided negative opinions previously circulated by certain individuals from Ogbia extraction against Barr. Turnah, stressing that such individuals were either misinformed or have deliberately positioned themselves as enemies of a progressive and prosperous future for Ogbia and Bayelsa State in general.
"The strategic repositioning spearheaded by Barr. Turnah, which has now placed Bayelsa at the center of Nigeria’s political conversations, deserves the support of every well-meaning citizen. It is disheartening that a few self-serving individuals have chosen to oppose a clearly progressive agenda," the statement added.
The Ogbia chapter reiterated the earlier call made by Barr. Turnah on Governor Douye Diri to be transparent and unambiguous in his political stance towards the 2027 presidential election. They stressed that Bayelsans must properly align, as other South-South states are already doing, to secure meaningful dividends of democracy.
"Bayelsans have suffered enough political marginalization due to the selfishness of a few individuals. The time has come to change that narrative, and we are proud that Barr. Turnah, MON, is leading that charge," they emphasized.
The statement concluded with a rallying call to all Bayelsan youths and stakeholders to continue to stand with Barr. George Turnah, MON, and the new ideology he represents, believing that it is the surest path toward achieving the long-anticipated development, justice, and prosperity for the people.
