NIGER DELTA INTELLECTUAL REBELS BACK GEORGE TURNAH

......Warn Youths Against Being Used as Pawns Against Bayelsa’s Progress

A frontline socio-political advocacy group, the Niger Delta Intellectual Rebels, has condemned in strong terms the recent press conference by a group of self-styled “Concerned Youths of Bayelsa State,” describing their outburst against Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, as not only ill-informed and misleading, but also a calculated distraction from the credible leadership vision currently redefining political engagement in Bayelsa State.

Speaking in Yenagoa, the group’s leader, Akekere Jerry, in a statement made available to journalists, declared that the attempt to vilify Turnah, who serves as the Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) South South Zone, Acting Chairman of the PDP in Bayelsa State, and leader of the rapidly expanding NEW Associates movement was a regrettable disservice to the future of Bayelsa youths.

“Let it be known without ambiguity that anyone or group standing in opposition to the progressive ideals of Barr. George Turnah is positioning themselves as enemies of Bayelsa’s development,” Jerry stated.

He described the youth group's remarks as “a poor script from fading political overlords who have for years impoverished the same youths they now send to insult the only man bold enough to stand up for their liberation.”

According to the Niger Delta Intellectual Rebels, the NEW Associates movement is not a threat to Bayelsa’s peace, as alleged by the “Concerned Youths,” but rather “a timely and strategic response to years of political betrayal, youth marginalization, and visionless governance.”

“Barr. Turnah is not just a politician; he is a phenomenon and a rallying point for a new era of purposeful, youth-driven leadership. His agenda is one of peace, equity, inclusion, and transformation,” Jerry said.

The group further issued a stern warning to all anti-democratic forces and political mercenaries attempting to derail the tide of change in Bayelsa by sponsoring false narratives.

“We will not fold our arms and watch a few desperate hands distort the truth or reduce our collective aspirations to tools of propaganda,” Jerry warned. “Bayelsa belongs to all of us, and it is high time the youth stopped being pawns in the game of expired politicians.”

He urged young people across the state to rise above tokenism and reject any attempt to distract them from the future they deserve.

“You cannot be jobless, voiceless, and ignored, yet defend those responsible for your condition. George Turnah represents hope, not politics as usual. This is the moment to rally, not retreat.”

In reaffirming their unflinching support for the New Bayelsa Agenda being championed by Barr. Turnah and the NEW Associates, the Niger Delta Intellectual Rebels called on Bayelsans, especially the youth, to key into the movement and be part of the transformational wave currently sweeping through the South South zone.

“We must not miss this opportunity to rewrite our story. Turnah is not here to destroy, but to build. He is not sowing discord, but planting hope. Those who feel threatened should rethink their politics and not blame the man who dares to lead differently.”

According to Jerry, Barr. Turnah’s consistent message of peaceful engagement, political awakening, and youth empowerment speaks volumes of his commitment to service beyond self.

“History is being made in Bayelsa. Let us not be found wanting. Let us stand with a man who stands with us.”
