Bayelsa NEW Associates Leader Applauds Appointment of Aganaba, Marcus Eji into SSDC Board
Says Tinubu’s Decision Reflects Commitment to Regional Growth, Inclusion
Yenagoa, May 10, 2025 – The Leader of NEW Associates in Bayelsa State and renowned advocate for youth empowerment and political inclusion, Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the recent appointments of Engr. Preye Steven Aganaba and Hon. Marcus Nie Eji into the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) Board.
Engr. Aganaba was appointed Executive Director, Social and Human Capital Development, while Hon. Eji will serve as Executive Director, Projects. Both are from Bayelsa and Rivers States respectively.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Turnah described the appointments as a “bold and strategic move” by President Tinubu to place capable and tested professionals in key positions to drive the vision of sustainable development across the South-South region.
“These appointments are a clear demonstration of the President’s commitment to harnessing credible and competent hands for national service. It also reflects a thoughtful approach to regional balance and inclusiveness in public appointments,” Turnah noted.
According to him, Engr. Aganaba brings a wealth of technical and administrative experience with a strong track record in human capital development, while Hon. Marcus Eji is recognized for his grassroots appeal, legislative experience, and people-centered approach to leadership.
Turnah emphasized that their emergence on the SSDC board signals renewed hope for addressing the persistent challenges of underdevelopment in the South-South, including youth unemployment, infrastructure deficits, and environmental issues.
“This is not just an appointment; it is a call to destiny. The SSDC is a lifeline for our region’s future. With competent leadership like Aganaba and Eji, we can begin to witness transformation that touches lives and lifts communities,” he said.
